In honor of the season of love, I pulled together 4 bible verses for Valentine’s Day that will help you reflect on God’s great love for you.
Perfect Love Drives Out Fear
1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
I believe this verse is more powerful than we give credit. How many of us have experienced fear in relationships with other people? I’m confident to say that most, if not all, of us have. The beautiful thing about God’s love is that it drives out fear. We never have to fear losing His love. No matter what you or I do, there is absolutely nothing that can make Him love us any less. We don’t need to fear the future because we know God loves us enough to work in our best interest. Bask in God’s love today and watch your fear flee.
Then You Will Be Made Complete
Ephesians 3:18-19 “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”
I pray that each person reading this would feel the love Paul is describing in this verse. His love is unmeasurable. It is “too great to understand fully.” No matter what human love has looked like for you, you are loved with a love that is so incredibly deep, wide, high and long. His love is never-ending, rest in that the next coming weeks.
What Great Love
1 John 3:1 “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”
I did a word study on the word “lavished” and it said, “very generous or extravagant,” “spent or given in profusion,” and “cover something liberally with.” I struggle to decide which of these definitions is the most powerful. God pours His love out on us generously, extravagantly, in profusion and liberally. No matter what kind of love you have received from your earthly father, know your Heavenly Father is so proud of you and He is so in love with you.
You Care About The Anguish of My Soul
Psalm 31:7 “I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul.”
God sees your troubles and without a doubt He cares about the pain you are feeling in this moment. Your cries do not fall on ears that do not hear. This Psalm says that He cares “about the anguish of my soul.” Whatever anguish you are currently facing, rejoice knowing that you have a God that cares and will provide the comfort, wisdom, and breakthrough you so desperately seek.
As the Valentine’s season approaches, know that you have infinite value in the eyes of your Heavenly Father. He will never stop pursuing you. He will never stop loving you. He hears you and He sees you. Whether you are single, dating, engaged, married, or divorced, know this Valentine’s Day that you are so very special. Write these Bible verses for Valentine’s Day somewhere to remind you of this.
